But What If You Regret Them?

But what if you regret them?
What if it stops meaning the same thing to you?
What if you don’t like that song any more?

These are questions I (and I’m sure anyone with visible tattoos) gets asked on a semi-regular basis.

I have a murloc tattoo from a game (World of Warcraft) that I no longer play with the same dedication as I had when I got my tattoo.
I have a tattoo of a girl on my hip who is being undressed by an octopus – just because I think the artists, both the tattoo artist and the original artist are amazing at their chosen field and I wanted their art on me.

I have lyrics from the song of my ex and I. OUR song.

Do I regret it?
No.

Those times – were all amazing times in my life. World of Warcraft was how tattoodaddy and I spent many a night together. Working together, strategising, conversing, wholeheartedly enjoying each other’s company. Learning our strengths and weaknesses together and in each other.
How could I regret something that reminded me of that time?

Do I regret the lyrics from a former boyfriend etched onto my ribs – close to my heart? Hell no. I loved him dearly and still care about him greatly. He is so happy right now, as am I. Without my time with him, I would not be the person I am and therefor I wouldn’t be in the place that I am now.
How can I regret any decision that has made me the person who I am today?

Every mark is a memory – a tribute – to the person I am at that point in time. I owe it to myself and to those in my life who share it with me to honour those memories and those feelings.
How could I ever regret loving the person I am in the moment I’m in?

Tattoo Tuesday – The Locket

Last tuesday I was getting tattooed. And I apologise for not having tattoo tuesday up.

BUT to make it up to you. I have photos of me being tattooed!

What – Locket

Where – inner elbow.

By – Arm at Coat of Arms

Why – Well, it’s actually really simple. I have a key . Every Key needs something to unlock. What better than the key to my heart. Also, it represents me wearing my heart on my sleeve.

Tattoo Tuesday – One I Did

What – roses (one coloured, two outlined)

Where – inside of my leg/ankle

By – ME!

Why? This was one I did on myself when I was first learning. I was practicing while it was a quiet night in the shop. It was the first colour tattoo I ever did. I’m pretty proud of it.

(looking at it now, I realise it’s pretty terrible, uneven lines, lines that didn’t go deep enough etc but it was good at the time!)

Tattoo Tuesday – A Foot

What – girl skull

Where – right foot

By – Lauren @ Yakuza

Why – Honestly? boredom. Obviously I thought the design was(is) cool, but I had previously let Danielle tattoo my other foot, so itwas only fair I let Lauren do this one!

By the way people, don’t get both your feet done within three days of each other. They’ll puff up for a week and you won’t be able to walk properly.

Do you have any spur of the moment tattoos?

Tattoo Tuesday – Tattoodaddy

Tattoodaddy is guest blogging  today, but he doesn’t know it. I took this photo while he was in the middle of changing a stinky nappy.

What – The HORDE crest

Where – On his bicep

By – Arm at Coat of Arms

Why – Because he’s a nerd, obviously. Who doesn’t want the Horde sheild on them forever? Who doesn’t want to pledge the ultimate love for the warcheif. Take the Blood oath to the next level. Seal it in blood, dammit!

Not to mention, he’s been playing World of Warcraft for about 5 years. His main character has seen him through some tough times.**

** The whole “Why” section is my speculation based on how much he loves World of Warcraft.

Tattoo Tuesday. Faeries, family and protection

What – double lined, 7 pointed star

Where – ribs, right hand side

By – Sean, Coat of Arms

This what my first ever tattoo. I love it. It has multiple meanings to me. 7 is a very special number. There are 7 days of the week, 7 directions of magick, 7 chakra points, 7 people in my family…

It is a star of protection and power.

I also feel that having one point for each person in my immediate family keeps us together and connected, regardless of wherever we might be.

Do you have any spiritual tattoos?

Tattoo Tuesday – the one from Zelda

What – Owl
Where – shoulder/bicep area
By who- Danielle from Yakuza outlined it and Arm from Coat of Arms coloured him in.

Why – I like Zelda. No, I’m kidding. It’s not actually from the game. I drew it because I like owls, they are mysterious, intellegent and sometimes more than a little scary. They represent wisdom and forsight.

Since I’ve had it coloured in though, I have had numerous people ask me if it’s the owl from Zelda. NO. It’s not.
I’ve never played Zelda. We clear?

Do you have a tattoo people mistake for something else?

Tattoo Tuesday – First Link Up!

What – Poison Girl

Where – under Upper arm (just below armpit)

By – Danielle at Yakuza Tattoo

Why – I designed this when I was bitter about my ex cheating on me and breaking my heart. So I got a poison girl to remind me to be careful to trust and to love.

I told you, very bitter.

I’m not so bitter any more. I talk to her and we are friendly. I’m still glad I have my reminder though.

As requested, it’s a Link Up!

Tattoo Tuesday – Ribs

This is my left ribs tattoo. It is song lyrics from Tiger Army – Santa Carla Twilight

Watch the moon rise tonight

the ocean looms past bonfires alight

I am a stranger in this place

And when I see you, I can’t turn away

Under this beach lie pirate bones

We stand above them at long last alone

There’s something different in your heart

You’re not afraid of the darkness within us all.

The song is my me and my ex’s song. Before you think it, no. I don’t regret getting this on me when we are now broken up. I actually got it after we broke up.

We had a great relationship – he is one of my best friends now. He taught me a lot about life and a lot about myself. He helped me become who I am today. If I hadn’t been with him in the first place, I wouldn’t be where I am now and for that, I thank him.

I think it is a beautiful tribute to the relationship we had and the friendship we have now.

(not to mention it’s my favourite song).

Do you have a tattoo for someone special to you?

World First – Tattoo Tuesday!

Hello and welcome to the AMAZING World First…. *drumroll*

TATTOO TUESDAY!

So, the deal with Tattoo Tuesday. I asked what people wanted to see on my blog. Suprisingly, more than anything, people want to see my tattoos. Every Tuesday, I will Show you a tattoo, and a bit of info about it. Usually who did it and where I got it done. What it means to me.

I am also wanting to take submissions/guest blogs for Tattoo Tuesday. If you have something you love and are dying to share it, email me!

If you have come looking for inspiration, great! We’re full of it! All I ask is that if you see something you like especially if it isn’t mine, you contact me (or the person, if they have a contact page in their links) to ask permission to use it first. Why? Because it’s only polite. You’ll see what it means to the person who has the design and want to respct that.

And finally, NO BEING RUDE. If you don’t like the tattoo, don’t comment. Remember, people have this tattoo forever. They got it for a reason. You might not understand the reason. You might not think their tattoo accurately represents what they had in mind. That’s not yours to decide. I will not tolerate people being rude, mean or disrespectful. If you do not completely understand the reason behind it, by all means – ask a question. Just be respectful about it.

So, without further adeu:

My first Tattoo Tuesday!

I figured I’d put this one up first as i’s the one that I get most noticed (and avoided) for.

What is it: A (realistic) heart with a swallow on either side. There is a banner through the heart. I think I know what I’m putting in there. Not 100% so it’s not done yet.

Where is it: This is smack bang on my chest. Right hand swallow was done by a lovely fellow who’s name I forget. Outline of other swallow and all of the heart was done by Lance Daly. Dani Daly coloured in the left hand swallow whilst at Yakuza in Wollongong.

Why/what it means to me: Swallows are an old sailor tattoo. The sailors got them because they are meant to guide you safely home to lovely arms. When you saw swallows, you knew you were safe. I loved the idea of having something on my chest always designed to protect me and make sure I got home safe. And the heart? Whatr better place to keep your heart than between two birds who will guide you to loving arms.

The realistic heart was my boss at the time (Lance)’s idea. Something along the lines of all girls get a normal heart. I think you could pull a real heart off. I like dthe in your face-ness of the idea, so there it is!

So there’s the first Tattoo Tuesday. Please, ask questions and email me your submissions!
